So, I've been looking around for a notebook computer that I can call my very own. I've been using my hubby's, but that just isn't the same. Computers are very personal to me. To use someone else's computer, for me, is like wearing someone else's shoes…
I debated on a PC, looked around and generally found myself wanting. Sure, for around $800 I could have a decent PC with gizmos and gadgets…and FUCKING WINDOWS VISTA. I have no interest in any flavor of Vista whatsoever. XP is finally somewhat stable and I'm comfy with it, but I have to order out if I want to get a notebook loaded with it Plus, I'm so sick and goddamned tired of dealing with Banglador (or Bangalore, or whatever the fuck it's called) for everything from billing and payment to OEM support and service.
I bought a Macbook. No mail order, no nothing. We walked in to the Apple retail store, found the cutest boy on the floor and asked a few questions, showed them my student ID and got my discounts, and walked out of the store with a brand-spanking-new 13.3″ Macbook. This fucker is down-right sexy. I can't wait to watch porn on it.
More importantly, I have invested wisely in my educational future.
Right?
Sidenote - my hubby toyed with one of the display iPhones - and in no less than two minutes he had managed to crash Safari and force the phone to reboot - TWICE - by visiting a commonly viewed website for Oregonians. Turns out our local NBC affiliate has a website which is not friendly to Safari in any incarnation and ended up freaking out the Jesus Phone. Good thing it can resurrect.
I want an iPhone

I don't think that there has ever been a time in my life where I have wanted something so intensely and deeply, as if I were called or intended to be something. As y'all know, I quit my job and stopped chasing the corporate rats last August in order to learn American Sign Language with the goal of entering the Sign Language Interpreting Program (SLIP) here in Portland. It is a two step process which required prerequisite classes before applying to the SLIP - those will be complete in two weeks. I am in the top of my class in ASL and have carried a 4.0 through the term.
I went through the application process last March for SLIP. There were 25 spots available for 45 applicants. After much stress and wondering about the future, the decision I made to follow a dream and rely on my husband for financial support, and many sleepless nights I am relieved and thrilled to announce that it was all worth it:
I GOT MY FUCKING ACCEPTANCE LETTER TODAY!!!
I can't begin to describe feelings…relief is first. The rest will follow, no doubt.
I love my husband. He never, ever had a single doubt that I would be accepted. He simply knew it was going to happen all along. I wish I had known what he knew.
